Standout Players (Laois)

Conor Heffernan was excellent all game in midfield: He won a great amount high ball, kickouts and provided very good & accurate kick passing, in link up play to attack.

Heffernan directly set up a Damon Larkin point from play. Alongside winning kickouts, he won a kickout mark which directly set up a Mark Barry point from play.

Conor Heffernan’s standout moment of the match was his brilliant total score of 0-3 (2 from play and one 2 pointer free), one of these points from play was kicked from the outside of his boot, that curled wonderfully between the posts. After Heffernan kicked this point, he immediately won the next resulting Clare kickout and his work rate throughout was outstanding.

Damon Larkin was very effective and strong in midfield. He dominated kickouts consistently. Following up on his excellent perofmance in Round 5 vs Antrim, Larkin was brilliant again vs Clare. Displaying great physical strength and pace on the ball as he made super runs into the Laois attack getting by the Clare defence and as a result, scoring (total 0-1 from play himself ). Whilst also contributing to the scoreboard by setting up his teammates with other scores for Laois too.

Brian Byrne was very impressive in the 2nd half in particular: as he made strong tackles multiple times as a result of excellent defensive work and man marking. He won a free converted by Mark Barry, he won kickouts when he came out the field and he scored a brilliant point from play from a difficult angle out wide.

He also contributes greatly to the Fermanagh attack, with his turnovers in possession, he directly set up Garvan Jones goal vs Antrim and has a total score of 1-6 (1 two pointer).

Midfielder Darragh McGurn has been highly effective as a great ball winner and dominating possesion in midfielder. Contributes nicely to the scoreboard with his accurate kicking and shooting ability, resulting in a total 0-9 points from play (1 two pointer).

Full forward Garvan Jones is still in top form and is in brilliant attacking form this league campaign for Fermanagh particularly. He is their standout forward and main/top scorer with a total score of 1-22 (2 two pointers.) Jones is also accurate in free taking duties, kicking 0-6 from frees.
