Standout Players for Laois:
As one of the standout forwards of the entire Laois SHC 2024 campaign with his club Abbeyleix, Colin Byrne joined the Laois senior panel for the first time this 2025 league campaign and was an un used substitute in the Offaly game.
Colin Byrne was awarded senior game time vs Waterford, when he came on as a substitute in the 47th minute replacing Willie Dunphy at centre forward and immediately impressed on his senior debut with a strong attacking perfomance. Although he didnt get on the scoresheet, Byrne contributed in attack as he displayed great pace and skill on the ball to get by the Waterford defence and put them under pressure, including winning multiple frees in, including one in a dangerous area on the edge of the box after a good shot by Byrne was blocked down by a Waterford defender.
Paddy Purcell started in midfield vs Waterford after impressing as a substitute vs Offaly in the previous round and was brilliant again vs Waterford. He worked hard to win a lot of ball in midifeld and used his long distance running ability combined with physical strength to fend off markers, scoring 0-2 from play.
Cha Dywer was also very good in attack displaying his scoring ability for Laois, getting 2 brilliant points from play.
Westmeath:

Left corner forward and free taker: David Williams has been highly accurate from dead balls whilst also getting some super scores from play 0-22 total (14 frees, 1 from 65, 0-7 from play)
Darragh Clinton has been lively with 0-3 from play so far.
