The Laois senior hurlers will play Waterford in their Round 2 game of Div.1B when they travel to Waterford on Sunday February 9th with throw in at 2pm in Walsh Park.

Standout Players (Laois): Liam O’Connell came on as a substitute in the 48th minute and his hard work rate made an immediate impact in the Laois defence. He intercepted long balls aimed towards Offaly forwards and turned over possession when he got out in front of markers to win the ball, before using his physical strength and pace to get up the field alongside using accurate puck passes to aid in the Laois attack.

The return of midfielder Jordan Walshe and right corner forward Cha Dwyer, was great to see and proved highly effective in getting Laois points on the scoreboard due to their long range scoring prowess. Both players scored their points from play excellently from long range and difficult angles. Both scored 0-2 from play.

Aaron Dunphy proved his role as captain with a strong performance. He was consistently accurate from dead balls under pressure and also displayed the ability to get a super score from play. (Total 0-7)

Waterford suffered a shock defeat to Carlow in their opening game of the Div.1B 2025 campaign.

Jamie Barron for Waterford was their standout player on the day. Displaying a top form shooting performance, scoring 0-4 from play. Padraig Fitzgerald was highly accurate in free taking duty (0-4 from frees, 0-1 from play) His point from play seen Waterford equalise on the 58th minute before Carlow pulled away. Conor Keane was introduced as a 2nd half substitute, coming on at half time and produced an impressive performance.
