The Laois senior footballers will play their refixed Round 1 game in Division 3 when they travel to Ballinamore to face Leitrim on Saturday February 8th at 2.30pm in Pairc Sheain Ui Eslin.

Standout Players (Laois): Ronan Coffey made his senior county debut with a display of a positive and strong performance. At right corner forward, he was instrumental in attack, scoring 0-4 from play and with an excellent ball forward, he directly set up Kevin Swayne’s point from a mark.
Pa Kirwan was brought on as a sub on the 29th minute at left half back and immediately injected much needed pace into the game for Laois. With his quick runs and physical strength to fend off markers,he scored his 1st pt from play just 3 minutes after he was on the field, alongside impressively defensively. (Total scored 0-2).
In attack, Mark Barry has a great kick of the ball and his long range shooting was his most effective attribute here as he scored 2 wonderful 2 pointers. (1 from free, 1 from play). He was also very accurate from frees (0-3 from frees, 0-9 in total).
Leitrim: Like Laois, were also defeated in their previous game so this weekend is a vital fixture for both sides.

Midfielder Barry McNulty had a great game: winning a mountain of ball from kickouts and possession in general. He contributed to his sides total score through directly setting up his teammates and scoring some massive points himself. McNulty was also unlucky to not have a brilliant two pointer under his belt, after his long range 48 yard effort hit the post from a free. Paul Honeyman, at right corner forward was a vital playmaker for his side, using his pace to come in from out wide, to good attacking position’s and directly set up Riordan O’Rourke’s point from play.
