We look ahead to Laois V Dublin this Sunday in Laois Hire O’Moore Park
All roads lead to Laois Hire O’Moore Park this Sunday at 3.30pm for the highly anticipated 2023 Leinster GAA SFC Quarter Final clash of Laois vs Dublin.
Believe it or not:
This is the first time in over 100 years that Laois will face Dublin in a championship football fixture held in Portlaoise.
Previous win vs Dublin:
Laois last beat Dubin in the Leinster GAA SFC semi final in Croke Park on Sunday June 15th 2003. On a score line of Laois 0-16 Dublin 0-14. Laois went on to defeat Kildare in the final to become Leinster champions that year.
One’s to watch:
No.5 Sean O Flynn (Courtwood) was excellent in defence against Wexford.
On his championship debut, no.9 Damon Larkin (Portlaoise) was impressive in midfield with a score of 2 points. No.15 Mark Barry (O’Dempseys) scored 2 goals (with only the crossbar preventing his hat trick) and 4 points.
As a result of this stellar performance against Wexford, Mark Barry was nominated for GAA Player of the Week on April 11th.
If Laois win they advance to the Leinster GAA SFC semi finals and will face Kildare or Wicklow. In the other quarter finals, it’s Meath vs Offaly and Louth vs Westmeath.
If Laois lose to Dublin, they will next be in action for the group stages of the 2023 Tailteann Cup (All Ireland Senior Football Championship 2nd Tier Competition) beginning on the weekend of the 13th-14th of May.
