Rathdowney Errill v Abbeyleix

Abbeyleix: 2-23

Rathdowney-Errill: Shane Madden was immense defensively, intercepting ball and clearing danger, simultaneously launching attacks. Padraig Rafter (0-1) impressed at the back too with strong tackling and Jack Kelly’s (0-1) great pace produced forward bursts, key in setting up his teammates scores.

Abbeyleix: Cormac Byrne (0-9, 0-4f) dominated puckouts and was clinical from play and frees. Aaron Carroll was rock solid at the back, launching key attacks with long deliveries. Killian Byrne (0-1) struck a lovely point from range, controlled midfield with clean catches and proved a vital distributor as his precise deliveries, played a key role in both goals.

 

Rosenallis v Castletown 

Rosenallis: 2-23

Castletown: 0-16

Rosenallis: defended superbly, with John Maher excelling in man marking and Shane Farrell dominating with key interceptions and clearances. The defensive duo denied Castletown a clear goal chance. Up front, Conor Cosgrove (0-4) impressed with a gritty, possession heavy display capped off with well taken scores.

For Castletown: Callum Peters worked tirelessly in midfield, turning over possession and setting up scores with sharp passes. Rory Kelly stood strong in defence with crucial blocks, while Martin Phelan was sharp in attack, notching 0-4 from play.

 

The Harps v Ballinakill 

The Harps: 0-23

Ballinakill: 2-19

The Harps: Ciaran Comerford starred with a superb 0-13 (0-8f), dominating in the air and striking sharp points from angles, both from play and frees. Cathal Murphy impressed defensively and in transitional play, while Cody Comerford battled well in the full back line.

Ballinakill: Cha Dwyer shone at both ends, rock solid in defence early and a major threat up front in the second half, finishing with 1-7 (1-2f). Andrew McDonagh was tireless throughout, turning over ball and launching accurate clearances that led to scores. Ben O’Mara was clinical in attack, creating chances and scoring 1-4.

 

Portlaoise v Borris in Ossory-Kilcotton 

Portlaoise: 3-11

Borris in Ossory-Kilcotton: 1-24

Portlaoise: Cian Dowling Byrne impressed in defence with hard work rate and key interceptions, followed by surging runs forward to set up scores, directly setting up Cathal Duggan’s goal. Cathal Duggan was effective in front of goal from both play and frees with 1-5 (0-3f), while Dean Lynch (0-1) dictated midfield with sharp passing and a score.

Borris in Ossory-Kilcotton: Stephen Finan was rock solid in defence, winning ball and launching attacks. Jer Quinlan (0-5) dominated in the air and on the scoreboard. Neil Foyle (0-3) scored some brilliant points from play in the first half and played a key role in the second half, directly setting up multiple scores including Stephen Dunphy’s goal with a superb flick.

 

Clough-Ballacolla v Camross

Clough-Ballacolla: 0-18

Camross: 2-19

Clough-Ballacolla: Lee Cleere stood out with a powerful defensive display: with strong ball carrying, key interceptions and timely tackles. Cillian Dunne (0-4) was sharp in attack, showing great movement both on and off the ball before striking the ball over the bar. Stephen Bergin (0-10, 0-5f) was excellent, scoring from all ranges and impressing with his skill combined with accuracy.
Camross: Odhran Phelan was dominant in midfield: battling hard, winning possession and driving long ball with pin point accuracy quickly into forwards, consistently. Mark Dowling (1-1) impressed with his speed, awareness and also set up a lot of scores. Mossy Keyes (1-6) returned to form with a clinical performance, full of energy, scoring all from play and leading the forward line effectively.
