We look ahead to this weeks 4 upcoming Laois Shopping Centre Senior Hurling Championship Round 1 fixtures taking place from Wednesday July 19th – Saturday July 22nd in Laois Hire O’Moore Park.

All games will take place in Laois Hire O’Moore Park, Portlaoise.

Wednesday July 19th:

Castletown vs Camross at 7.45pm

Previous meetings:

2022 Laois SHC Group A Round 3 in Laois Hire O’Moore Park on August 14th 2022

Castletown: 1-21
Camross:     4-26

Ryan Mullaney and Aaron Gaughan scored 0-6 each for Castletown plus Dan Delaney (1-5) and Ciaran Collier (1-4) scored for Camross on the day resulting in a 14-point win for Camross over Castletown in the end.

2023 ACHL Division 1 Round 3 in Castletown GAA Grounds on May 14th 2023

Castletown: 0-19
Camross:     0-16

Although Camross were favourites heading into this fixture, Castletown defeated the odds with a 3-point win. Shane Phelan fired over 9 points on the day for Castletown while Dan Delaney scored 4 points for Camross.

Thursday July 20th:

Rathdowney-Errill vs Clough-Ballacolla at 7.45pm

Previous meetings:

2021 Laois SHC Semi Final in Laois Hire O’Moore Park on October 24th 2021

Clough-Ballacolla: 0-24

Rathdowney-Errill: 3-13

In this thrilling contest, Clough-Ballacolla defeated Rathdowney-Errill by 2 points despite Clough-Ballacolla having to overcome being both 5 points and a man down in the 1st half. Jordan Walshe (0-8) and Stephen Picky Maher (0-7) put in excellent attacking performances for Clough-Ballacolla while Paddy Purcell (1-3) and Dylan Carroll (0-7) were equally as strong for Rathdowney-Errill.

2023 ACHL Division 1 Semi Final in Rathdowney on July 1st 2023.

Rathdowney-Errill: 1-12
Clough-Ballacolla: 3-15

Stephen Picky Maher (2-6) and Sean Corby (1-1) were both in firing form for Clough-Ballacolla while Ross King (0-5) and Brandon McGinley (1-0) provided the majority of scores for Rathdowney-Errill.

Friday July 21st:

Borris in Ossory/Kilcotton vs Abbeyleix St.Lazarians at 7.45pm

2023 ACHL Division 1 Round 7 in Abbeyleix on June 18th 2023

Borris Kilcotton: 2-19
Abbeyleix: 2-16

Eoghan Fenelly (0-8) and Enda Rowland (1-2) put in brilliant performances for Abbeyleix while Neil Foyle (0-6), Stephen Dunphy (1-2), Philip Tynan, (1-2) and Aaron Dunphy (0-5) all got the crucial scores for Borris Kilcotton that ensured the 3 point win.

Saturday July 22nd: The Harps vs Rosenallis at 7pm

Previous meetings:

2021 Laois SHC Group A Round 3 in Laois Hire O’Moore Park on September 25th 2021.

Rosenallis: 2-13
The Harps: 0-16

In an exciting contest consisting of end-to-end scoring from both sides with little to separate them, Fiachra C.Fennell was fantastic for Rosenallis in this game, scoring 3 points and assisting the crucial last minute and match winning goal scored by Donnagh Calally. The Harps Micheal Lanigan’s 8 points proved vital to keeping his side in the game right up until the last minute of normal time.
