We look ahead to this weekend’s Laois Shopping Centre ACFL Division 1 & Division 2 Finals.

Laois Shopping Centre ACFL Division 1 Final:

Portarlington face St.Josephs this Saturday July 8th at 7.30pm taking place in LOETB Centre of Excellence, Portlaoise in the ACFL Division 1 Final. Winner on the Day (Extra-time and penalties if necessary)

Previous meetings:

AFCL Division 1 Round 2 April 14th 2023

St.Josephs: 2-14

Portarlington: 0-12

ACFL Division 1 Winners Phase Round 1 June 9th 2023

St.Josephs: 0-13

Portarlington: 1-10

One’s to watch:

Portarlington: Portarlington are strengthened by the return of their senior county players. In the recent win over Ballyroan-Abbey on June 29th which secured Portarlington’s place in the upcoming Division 1 Final, Paddy O’Sullivan scored 1-1 alongside assisting the 2nd goal, Alex Mahon and Robert Piggot were brilliant defensively and Colm Murphy also put in a fine performance. Final score on the night was: Portarlington: 2-11 Ballyroan-Abbey: 2-5.

St.Josephs: are 2022’s AFCL Division 1 champions and are looking to make it two in a row after performing excellently in this years league campaign too. Eoghan O’Flaherty, Brian Daly and Michael Keogh were consistent and in fantastic attacking form for the duration of this season’s league. St.Josephs finished top of the 2023 Division 1 Table in the group phase on 12 points with just 1 loss in 7 games. A win over Ballyroan-Abbey and draws with Portlaoise & Portarlington in the Winners Phase secured St.Josephs place in the upcoming Division 1 Final. The final score in the last round against Portlaoise on June 29th was: St.Josephs 0-12 Portlaoise 1-9.

Laois Shopping Centre ACFL Division 2 Final:

Ballyfin face Courtwood this Saturday July 8th at 5.45pm taking place in the LOETB Centre of Excellence, Portlaoise in the ACFL Division 2 Final. Winner on The Day (Extra-time and penalties if necessary)

ACFL Division 2 Round 5: May 12th 2023

Ballyfin: 2-12

Courtwood: 1-15

ACFL Division 2 Winners Phase Round 3: July 1st 2023

Courtwood: 4-13

Ballyfin: 1-8

One’s to watch:

Courtwood: Courtwood are strengthened by the return of senior county player Sean O’Flynn, Alan Kinsella who is fully fit now after recovering from a long-term injury and former senior county player Niall Donoher who is in top form in this year’s league campaign.

Ballyfin: Ballyfin are also strengthened by the return of senior county player James Finn. The two Moore brothers, James and Sean Moore are also standout players for Ballyfin this year.
