Allianz Leagues – Senior Hurling and Football Weekend Previews
Ahead of a busy weekend for both our Senior Hurlers and Footballers this weekend, we provide a short preview of both games.
Preview – Senior Football Vs London – Sunday at 1pm
Laois Senior Football manager Billy Sheehan, has named his side to face London this weekend in the Allianz Football League: Division 4 (Round 7) fixture. Throw in, is this Sunday March 26 at 1pm in McGovern Park, Ruislip, London.
There are no changes to the Laois team from the side that started against Leitrim last week.
Team news: Boost for Laois. Eoin Lowry and Kevin Swayne who both came off injured last week after putting in great performances, are both fit to start on Sunday.
One to watch: O’Dempseys clubman Mark Barry is in excellent form heading into the game, following his most recent performance of scoring 8 points against Leitrim.
Laois connection with London: Former Laois and Portlaoise player Cahir Healy, is a member of the 2023 London Senior Football panel and started the Round 3 fixture versus Wicklow on February 18th. He is currently an injury worry for London, carrying a hip injury and it is currently unknown if he will start on Sunday.
Promotion Permutations: Should Laois beat London on Sunday, Leitrim emerge successful against Sligo and subject to the score difference should Wicklow also beat Waterford, then Laois will set up a Croke Park final against Leitrim with the winner gaining promotion to Division 3 next year.
All games are at 1pm on Sunday March 26 so it’s all to play for!
