Standout Players for Laois:
In defence:
Tom Cuddy was strong defensively throughout. He made two key interventions at half back: the first, a well-timed interception and tackle on Kildare’s Jack Travers, followed by a second crucial challenge that led to a long ball into Aidan Corby, who slotted a point from play for Laois. Tom Cuddy later intercepted a pass from Kildare’s Gerry Keegan and launched another long ball forward, playing a key role in the build-up to a Paddy Purcell point from play.
In attack:
Mossy Keyes showed great vision all game with a total score of 0-7 (0-5 from frees). Keyes standout moments of the game came in the 2nd half: With quick thinking that resulted in a brilliant outcome, Mossy Keyes opted against taking the point from a free himself and instead played a clever short pass to Cha Dwyer, who finished superbly with a goal from play. Shortly after, Mossy made a powerful run through the Kildare defence: initially shaping for a goal: before settling for a well-taken point from play. He added another super point from open play shortly after this, and later won and converted a free himself to cap off an impressive performance.
