Laois face Fermanagh on Saturday at 6pm in Brewster Park, Enniskillen in the preliminary quarter-final of the 2023 Tailteann Cup.

Laois manager Billy Sheehan has named the Laois side to face Fermanagh with no changes to the side that started against London in the Round 3 fixture last weekend.

One’s to watch:

Portarlington’s Paddy O’Sullivan’s continues a great run of form this year having put in yet another excellent and energetic performance against London. Arles Killeen’s Paul Kingston earned a place on GAA.ie’s Tailteann Cup Team of The Week on Tuesday June 6th as a result of his display against London, scoring 0-7.

Despite defeat on the day, Laois displayed a very positive attacking performance with forwards Mark Barry (2-1) and Evan O’Carroll (1-2) providing the majority of the scores from play.

What’s Next:

The Preliminary Quarter-Final stages of the 2023 Tailteann Cup are straight knock-out contests. A win for Laois will see them through to the quarter-final stages with an away fixture against Meath, Cavan, Limerick or Antrim. The quarter-finals will be held next weekend June 17th/18th. If Laois and Fermanagh are level at the end of normal time, there will be extra time/penalties on the day to decide the winner. A loss for Laois will see them eliminated from the competition.

Tailteann Cup 2023:

The Tailteann Cup is the annual second tier All Ireland football championship competition contested by the 16 county teams who do not qualify for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship with the winners of the 2023 Tailteann Cup going on to enter the 2024 All Ireland Senior Football Championship.
