Under-8 Hurling - Laois GAA Go Games Rules 2017
Players: | Minimum of 5, maximum of 9 |
Pitch: | 45m x 40m |
Duration: | Blitzes - 10 minutes per half, single games - 8 minutes per quarter |
Team lineout: | 1 goalkeeper, 3 defenders, 2 midfielders, 3 attackers |
Commencement of play: | Throw-in |
Play: | Normal rules except players are not allowed to solo the ball. Players can use steps and balance solo to get out of trouble to strike. |
Goalkeeper: | Can strike the ball from the hand Restarts play after a score or wide with a puck out from the hand |
Frees: | Player who is fouled (unless injured), or the player who is nearest a fouled ball, takes the free. Opposing players must be 10m away from the free taker |
Sideline cut: | Player who is nearest the ball when it crosses the line, takes the cut. Opposing players must be 10m away |
65s: | None - goalkeeper restarts play after a score or wide with a puck out from the hand from the 10m line |
Scoring: | All scores = 1 |
Respect initiative: | Just before the throw-in the referee will blow the whistle and each player will shake hands with their marker After the games the players and coaches will shake hands, and the coaches should be seen and heard by the players to thank the referee All players and coaches must respect referees' decisions at all times |
